Locally Grown

We work closely with a network of local growers to find high quality annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees at the best prices. We inspect the plants carefully to ensure the roots are well established and the plants are hardy.  As a result of being locally grown, they are well adapted to our gardens here in central Virginia.

Perennials

 We carry a wide variety of perennial and ground cover plants. Perennial plants remain in the ground year after year. Once established, many perennials need minimal upkeep in the form of watering and fertilizing, since their roots are more far-ranging than annual plants’ roots. Many perennials spread readily, filling out garden spaces and providing more and more color each year.

Annual Flowers and Vegetables

Our annual and vegetable plants arrive weekly throughout the growing season.  We carry an outstanding collection of vegetable plants that will grow well in your kitchen garden. This summer, bring healthy organic food from your garden to your kitchen table.

Annuals provide color to last the entire growing season. Annuals perform an entire life cycle in one growing season. A few months takes this plant from seed to a mature plant that dies off with the first hard frost in the fall. Annuals feature brilliantly colored flowers that typically last for quite a while. These plants respond well to deadheading to remove old blooms and foliage.
