Hey Kids, Let's Build Monarch Waystations!

The monarch butterflies are getting ready to move to their winter home in Mexico. Let’s help them on their journey by planting easy monarch waystations. Learn about these awesome insects and discover which plants they need for food and shelter. You’ll take home a special plant to get started and paint a sign to welcome butterflies to your waystation. Fun for ages 5-8!

Cost: $20.00- includes a large milkweed plant to start your waystation and materials needed to paint a welcome sign during the event. Children ages 5-8 will enjoy this activity and must have a parent or guardian on premises during the class.

Gardening pests come in all shapes and sizes—from Japanese beetles to deer. Join us to talk about how you can successfully manage our local gardening pests without harming beneficial insects and birds. For your vegetable garden, we’ll talk about fencing and dealing with common crop pests. In the flower garden, we’ll focus on deer resistant plant varieties and strategies to minimize deer damage.

1 hour, with plenty of time for Q&A.

Join us to find out how to attract more bees, butterflies and other pollinators to your garden. No matter what kind of garden you have—shade, sun, container or deer-predated—we’ll offer practical advice to help you create a pollinator friendly habitat.  We’ll provide plant recommendations that will keep blooms going from early spring to late fall and support the lifecycles for a variety of pollinators.
